II — Training Programs Through Praxis

Training programs built on the SVEND method library are sold to institutions and training providers through SVEND Praxis, which runs as its own system on its own hostname. Programs go on sale in March 2027.

How a Program Is Delivered
  • An institution is created together with the instructors who teach at it
  • Curriculum is assigned to that institution, so a learner’s catalog is what the institution was sold rather than everything that exists
  • Instructors enrol their own students at their own institution
  • Students work through the modules of the curriculum assigned to them
  • The content is the published field-protocol library, read from the compiled method build rather than from a brochure

A Praxis program and a SVEND platform subscription are separate purchases, and a learner account in Praxis is separate from an account on the bench. Any arrangement covering platform access for students is agreed in writing as part of the program.

SVEND was built by the practitioner who ran operational excellence at Fort Dearborn’s Fort Worth plant — owning changeover and roll change across four shifts, applying Protzman’s integrated framework — during the years that plant set the world impression record on a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106, at roughly 82 million impressions against an industry average near 32 million. We offer tailored partnership options to support operational excellence, quality management, and strategic planning missions across geographic and industrial concerns.

SVEND offers partnerships through the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Program (SCMEP) as a Technical Partnership Provider (TPP), and works with manufacturers across the United States through the federation of practices described below.

The method is the Toyota Production System and Deming’s System of Profound Knowledge, organized the way a Team of Teams organization operates, and run through a doctrine of shaping, execution and consolidation. Capabilities are assembled against the problem in front of them: a 3P plant redesign pulls in line balancing and 5S, a throughput problem pulls in SMED and standard work, and an MDI deployment pulls in leadership standard work and the measures underneath it.

  • Value stream mapping — current state, future state, and the improvement budget that comes out of the analysis

  • Design of experiments and machine centerlining — factor screening, optimization, and the settings a machine is returned to

  • Energy assessment — consumption assessed and recommendations made against it. The assessment framework is still being built, so what it covers is worth asking about rather than assuming from this line
  • Training program implementation — the structure that makes a plant able to train its own people
  • Recruiting — finding the people a deployment needs to survive after it ends

Ranges observed across engagements by this practice. What any single plant returns depends on where it starts, and the intake conversation is where that gets estimated rather than promised.

III-C The 100-Day Plan

Full deployments run to a standard 100-day plan, the same one CrossPointe and Mayer run. It begins with value stream maps and leadership standard work, stands up hoshin kanri and MDI on top of them, and leaves a program the plant operates itself. Fractional and a la carte engagements take components of it rather than the whole.

III-D Training

Three programs, delivered against ILSSI accreditation and the Toyota Production System body of practice. Course materials and templates are being published progressively through Gemba Exchange, with a selection in playbooks.

A manufacturer working to keep people employed, or to add headcount, can apply for a reduced day rate. Operational excellence is often sold as a way to need fewer people; that is not what this practice is for, and the rate reflects it.

There is no form to fill in beyond the one below. Say what you are trying to protect or build in the project intake and we will talk about the rate directly. Reductions are agreed case by case, in writing, before any work starts.

IV — Integration Partners

Nearly every integration reduces to one of two seams. Measurements arrive and become a dataset that remembers where it came from, or a record leaves intact and lands somewhere else. Building those two properly opens a conversation with a whole category of systems instead of one vendor at a time.

The Two Seams
  • Ingress. A system already holding measurements — a calibration laboratory, a machine monitor, a manufacturing execution system — hands them over, and they arrive carrying their provenance rather than as an anonymous column of numbers.
  • Egress. A record leaves whole: a calibration certificate its recipient can check, an analysis carrying its conditions and provenance, a worksheet another tool opens natively.

The worked example is the Digital Calibration Certificate. A laboratory that issues one can have it read rather than retyped, and a calibration performed here is served back as one, validated against the schema published by Germany’s national metrology institute. Neither direction needed a bilateral agreement, because the format is published and anyone may implement it. The format reference →

V — The Federation

SVEND is not sold by a software company. It is the analytical engine behind Kjerne Services — a federation of independent manufacturing and operational excellence consulting firms, each running its own brand and its own client relationships. Every method on the bench is one the federation uses on a shop floor before it reaches you.

Kjerne provides the shared infrastructure the firms run on: CRM, financial operations, email automation, lead capture, and the full Forge analytical suite. The same engine that computes a capability study for a federation engagement computes yours — there is no separate consulting build.
